Switcheroo and Peace Out

First, I just tucked away my oil paints...for now. Instead, my ancient paint box is stocked with brand new acrylics.
Second, my favorite blondie and I walked to a nearby cafe and were loved-on by crowds of Japanese tourists. Here are some of them.
Third, this header is retired. i hope you like the new one!

PART 2:reunited with gorgeous Wenderful at long last! when we first got there, everyone was on the dance floor. then the evening entertainment graduated to the talent night after party. we're talkin' about the kind of talent that makes your jaw drop (and made me strangle-hold the couch pillow in a fit of awe and utmost jealousy.)
I met Wenderful (btw, not her real name) when she was in the rock star betties. Then we lived together at the Art Front warehouse. here Wenderful and her sister Mel (also a good friend) are jerryrigging a capo for Wenderful's groom, B-Dunn.Wenderful is part of the Mormon Von Trapp family (note: they would never call themselves that, but i just want you to understand!) these guys write their own music. and switch instruments like my sister and i switch outfits, anytime, anywhere. Mel (to the right) and her cute husband Jason (not pictured) were in the band Desmo.- this is a link to the song "temporary baby".

we were listening to their amazingness and requesting favorite songs until we finally left well after 1 am.

And since this post needs a pic of Wenderful in her wedding dress... i love her! thanks to Wenderful and all for the great FUN!

when we got back to the lime green cottage O'lover felt renewed to work on projects, like installing can lights. i felt renewed to watch. and think about how my man looks like a 70's cop. with those sunglasses. and the side burns. sigh.
xo,

I love being with this guy and with his momma, my little sister Tammy. Because of TamTam's cheerful disposition from birth we have called her "Sunshine." Her son takes after her (well his Dad is very good natured as well). I've had Mr. T all day while Tam's been at school and seriously...nothing but giggles and jokes with this kid.
Even while i'm in Ludite mode, I LOVE airports. And just to continue mentioning art professor Peter Everett's name every post i write - he makes large paintings of airports. Did you know that?
A clue about my destination: While standing in line to board my flight I kept fantasizing that Billy Corgan was around and I could kiss his elbow. The Smashing Pumpkins are from...Chicago. And you neverknow...people do have layovers in SLC. Like the person sitting next to me in the plane. Who brought the same library book as me! What are the chances?

Halloween Abroad...
it ain't hallowed without a trip to the Hayes'.
Their art-filled house; homemade donuts, brewed rootbeer, and stew; the scores of walking dead...
oh! and the art projects! this year we carved plaster heads on a stick.
more to come...

Halloween on the Homefront...
Before heading over to the MonkeyGrinder's at Velour, a swashbucklin' Liz decked out the front porch and handed out loot to the trick-or-treaters. without her, the kids' would have gotten nada! Every year Halloween means a LOT of work. And this year was no different. I helped my former co-workers with the downtown events...and then when things were finally over and all 1100 trolls, princesses, and masked what-have-yous had made the rounds...and the carnival games and pop-up tents were down...we hit the road, carpooling to Salt Lake...for our annual fix of Halloween at the Hayes'.

Last night buckminster fuller was on my mind. he left a life of privilege and everything he knew to live in the ghettos of chicago for a couple of years. he sought a new way of speaking and thinking.

and i thought, "Me too!"

so i packed my bag, borrowing a bivey sac from the stikas, left my cozy home on a cold rainy night and headed for the hills. oliver, riding his bike, caught up with me twice. once to give me some raw melissa coconut macaroons and once to bring me our large puppy Farmer.

later, with farmer off his leash roaming, i was on my own. far above the buzzing power lines with a very exposed view of the city i laid out my bed ready to snore and dream a new vocabulary. but where's farmer?

Farmerrrrrr! FAAAAAAARMER!

tromping all over the dark mountain, through the drizzle, looking for the over-stimulated bugger... i discovered him rejoicing over a carcass. yum. way past the normal hour of slumber i tugged him over steep hills back to my bed perch where i mistakingly thought he could SLEEP. what i quickly learned is that Farmer needed his own pad and blankie, and cover from the rain, and more drinking water. and since i wasn't going to snuggle with a bloody carnage mouthed dog we went home.

to a very happily surprised O'lover and a very warm bed and a promptly fresh minty-breathed Farmer. (don't worry, we didn't listerine burn his taste buds.)

but Bucky Fuller, you're still in my thoughts...

p.s. i found this cool pic of Y-mount on a ufo site! click on the link and then do a search for "Provo" . the article claims the blur is evidence of alien visitation and that the Y, with all of its symbolic meanings, is a clarion call to aliens. Do you know what this means?! I could have been abducted on Y-mount last night! Farmer saved us! hee hee hee heee. huh, actually DARN i could have definitely learned a new vernacular amongst the 3 eyed green folk. another missed opportunity... =)

Farmer and I went on a plum scouting trip. Really we were just going on a walk but I always have to have a purpose or...&*$#^%$!* ensues (the bad word is "boredom").

Farmer has different styles of taking walks. With O'lover, the dog whisperer, he's a perfect heeler. with me farmer checks out every nook and cranny ad nauseum...which gives me plenty of time to scrutinize the hodgepodge architecture in the neighborhood....and dream of blowing things up because i want to be just like RH who read the Monkey Wrench Gang when she was too young and now daydreams of blowing up strip malls and cheapo mc mansions. And how i think that's the best OCD ever AND THEN I remember magnus....who taught me how to think all the things i think are ugly are really actually beautiful. so then...what can i blow up?

BYU's south hill would have made the perfect destination because Farmer likes chillin with the ducks and it has many plums...one summer those luscious plums were my main staple. But then, after I had already eaten thousands of delectable plums, my friend Ryan was stopped by the head forester guy and told that the plums are heavily sprayed...with chemicals NOT suitable for ingestion. Ohhh...well, not BYU today.

So now we hunt for our fruit in trustworthy places like abandoned lots or rentals with dead grass. (There's a great apricot tree by an abandoned pioneer house on 400 West and 600 South. it thrives without any care...that tree is my HERO.)

We looked by the church on 7th north- there's a rental with a plum tree...but this year all the fruit has been picked! Sooo impressed.

But no worries, our neighbors the Ramsey's have a plum tree on the alley. And they are decidedly against spraying. They like their food...safe. and they share. but we still ask repeatedly 'cause they are very cool and we don't miss any opportunity to have a chat.
