The 2010 Herbal Almanac was the first book I read this year.
An unexpected tear jerker. As it helped me solve what happened to our beehive last year. The hive had been going strong for four years. And then i planted southernwood and feverfew within a few feet of it. The Herbal Almanac warns that honey bees flee from all artemesias, including the southernwood, and they're repelled by the feverfew (as are many humans due to the odd odor).
The situation will be rectified.
The book also teaches plant lore. Including the belief that basil thrives if you curse profusely while sowing it. I can't wait to put that into practice. =)
